Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity, dedicated to saving and improving lives through research.

About the centre

Cancer Research UK exists to beat cancer. Its mission is to reduce the impact of cancer on people’s day-to-day lives through research, influence and information.

It funds high-impact research across the research pipeline, guided by an ambitious vision and research strategy. The strategy is underpinned by Cancer Research UK’s people-first principles, investing in transformative partnerships, dedicated training programmes and core infrastructure to build and support a sustainable and equitable cancer research community. Advancing early detection and diagnosis research to transform outcomes and improve lives is one of its strategic priorities.

Cancer Research UK founded the International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED) in partnership with other leading research organisations to advance progress in cancer early detection through international collaboration. Cancer Research UK coordinates the scientific strategy, funding, peer review and operational delivery that underpin the Alliance. This enables collaboration across centres and countries ensuring that early detection research is aligned and delivered at scale, helping translate discoveries into improved outcomes for people affected by cancer.
